Sherry Grello – Lee Early College

This week’s Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Ms. Sherry Grello, from Lee Early College. Ms. Grello is a much admired campus mainstay at Lee Early College, where she teaches Earth and Environmental Sciences, and serves as the school’s ACT Prep teacher. She’s also been involved in LEC’s Rotary Club, Photography Club and as a class advisor. Ms. Grello was also honored by the Lee County School District as Lee Early College’s 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Grello’s academic background and spare time interests are as diverse as her teaching schedule. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Geology and Masters degrees in Geology and Secondary Education from SUNY-Cortland. Additionally, Ms. Grello has an AA in Fashion Art & Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology and holds degrees from Liberty University in Pastoral Counseling and Theology. Ms. Grello also enjoys devoting time to playing guitar, writing songs, gardening and photography.

Ms. Grello is recognized at LEC both for being an exceptional classroom teacher, and as an educator who is focused on the entire student. She earns high marks for creating exciting and challenging lessons that encourage critical thinking; but balancing those efforts with allowing her students to reflect on what they’ve learned and how to apply it.
