OB/GYN Physician Joins Central Carolina Hospital

Sanford’s Central Carolina Hospital has added its 13th health care provider to it’s medical staff in 2017, with the addition of Caroline Summers, D.O. to the organization. Dr. Summers will provide Obstetrics and Gynecology services to patients from her base of operations at Carolina Women’s Health Center of Sanford. She joins CCH from Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA where she managed labor, antepartum and triage patients on the Labor and Delivery Unit, participated in obstetric and gynecologic surgical procedures, provided patient care at the resident gynecology and obstetrics clinic, and taught medical and physician assistant students during their OB/GYN rotation.

Central Carolina Hospital CEO John Maxwell notes, “Dr. Summers is an excellent addition to our medical staff. She has training in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and her specialties include prenatal care and delivery, birth control, well woman exams, hysterectomy, laparoscopy, and pre-pregnancy counseling.”

Dr. Summers graduated from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA, completed her Internship and Residency at the Carilion Clinic-Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and holds Masters of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees from North Carolina State University.
