Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Lisa Howard of Broadway Elementary School. Mrs. Howard has been a Wildcat for the entirety of her 27-year teaching career and holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, K-6 from Campbell University.
Mrs. Howard believes when students feel that you value them individually and are interested in their success, they will strive to be the best they can be each day. “I also believe that motivating students to work hard is so important. I’m their biggest cheerleader! Students that are motivated and inspired will rise to meet challenges and accomplish their goals.”
If you asked Mrs. Howard what teaching accomplishment she’s proudest of, she would tell you that it’s the relationships she’s been able to build with her students throughout the years. “I love it when my former students come back to see me and share their success stories. It makes me feel proud to have been a stakeholder in their future. I strive each year to let them know how special they are and how much I love and care about them.”
Going to the beach with her family — husband Robert and daughters Karey Beth and Kamryn — is something that you can catch Mrs. Howard doing, especially if it’s North Myrtle Beach. “I love to sit back and read a good book on the beach or on the couch at home with my favorite little dachshund, Reese.”
In a nutshell, Mrs. Howard just loves Broadway Elementary School. “I was a former student at Broadway and I feel fortunate to be able to work at the elementary school I attended with a great group of dedicated people. I have learned from and worked with some of the best. Our Broadway School family is something special.”
