Lee County Earns NC Work Ready Employment Certification

Lee County is now certified as an NC Works Work Ready Community.

The collaborative effort among the Sanford Area Growth Alliance Chamber of Commerce, Central Carolina Community College, Lee County Schools, and over 80 local businesses sets a framework that makes it easier for qualified employment candidates to gain jobs with area companies.

Lee County is now 1 of 22 counties in North Carolina to be recognized with the distinction. Employers who participate in the program can encourage job prospects to take a Career Readiness Certification program, so that employment skills can best match job opportunities. By pledging to employ program participants, local businesses incent a well-trained local workforce and ensure making the best hiring decisions possible.

Community stakeholders will celebrate this achievement at a special event at the Dennis A. Wicker Convention Center on April 3 at 9am.  The NC Chamber Foundations will recognize the county for its certification and participating businesses will be honored for their involvement.  To learn about how you or your local company can be a part of the Work Ready Program, contact the Sanford Chamber of Commerce by email or by calling 919-775-7341
