Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Kelly Davis of J. Glenn Edwards Elementary School. Mrs. Davis is a first-grade teacher and has been a part of the Edwards family for the entirety of her five-year teaching career. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Mrs. Davis’ teaching philosophy starts with building relationships with her students so that they know they’re in a safe space to learn. “As a teacher my goal is to let every student know how important they are, and that they are loved and valued every day they are in my room. I want to develop students who not only believe in themselves and their potential, but also love to learn.”
And when asked what her greatest teaching accomplishment is, Mrs. Davis said it’s when her teaching philosophy becomes a reality. “The teaching accomplishment I am proudest of is knowing that each year my students leave my room they are aware of how important they are and how much they are loved.”
Colleagues of Mrs. Davis would describe her as “caring,” “reliable” and a “team player.” When outside of the classroom, Mrs. Davis enjoys spending time with her family and her dogs, as well as traveling to new places.
