Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is SanLee Middle School’s Karen Briggs. Mrs. Briggs is a sixth-grade math teacher and has been part of the Stallion family for three of her eight-year teaching career. She has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education from Fayetteville State University. In addition to teaching at SanLee, Mrs. Briggs is also a leadership/grade level chair and a part of SGLA.
Mrs. Briggs feels that teachers hold the highest power: “I believe that teaching provides you with the greatest power to inspire and instill a love for lifelong learning.” And when Mrs. Briggs uses that power to teach and inspire her students to learn is the teaching accomplishment that she is proudest of earning. Some words that colleagues of Mrs. Briggs would use to describe her are “loyal,” “committed” and “hard-working.”
Mrs. Briggs plays a very active role at her school. In her free time she enjoys exercising, swimming, kayaking and riding ATVs.
