Flu Season is upon us and always it’s important that you get your flu shot! As anyone who has gotten the flu can tell you, a momentary stick from vaccination is nothing compared to how unpleasant having the flu is!
In an effort to help combat the flu and prevent serious illness, Central Carolina Hospital will be having a FREE Drive Through Flu Shot Clinic this Saturday October 19th from 9:00am – 11:00am. The line will begin at the hospital entrance on 1135 Carthage St.
According to the CDC, the flu vaccine prevents millions of illnesses and flu-related doctor’s visits each year. For example, during 2016-2017, flu vaccination prevented an estimated 5.3 million influenza illnesses, 2.6 million influenza-associated medical visits, and 85,000 influenza-associated hospitalizations. It’s also important to get your flu shot not only for your own health, but also because it can help protect others through herd immunity. If you receive the vaccination, you could help protect someone who can’t receive it due to allergies or other health conditions.
If you haven’t gotten your flu vaccine yet and you are free, make sure to go!
