Ms. McIver feels that having a partnership with her students’ parents is a key factor in student success. She observes, “I believe every child can learn deeply and that my partnership with their parents creates a great learning experience for my students 24 hours a day. My goal is to treat every child with love and respect every day, and to inspire, motivate and encourage them to do their best in and outside of the classroom.”
Ms. McIver’s peers use terms such as “hardworking,” “energetic,” “fun” and “compassionate about her teaching and her students” to describe Ms. McIver’s efforts. She gets her greatest satisfaction from her students’ accomplishments, noting “I am proudest of having had the opportunity to help students become confident readers and lifelong learners. I am also proud when I meet former students who remember being in my classroom as if it were yesterday!”
In her free time, Ms. McIver enjoys working in her church, reading, walking in the park, making school learning activities, riding her bicycle, cooking and visiting her family and friends! Ms. McIver is also eager to share is that she comes from a family of teachers. She comments, “I am blessed to have come from a long line of educators, including my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces! I saw firsthand the positive impact my parents had on students and families in our community.”
