Erica Towns – Bragg Street Academy

Our newest Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Erica Towns, a math teacher at Bragg Street Academy.  Ms. Towns was recently recognized as BSA’s 2019-20 Beginner Teacher of the Year.  Her new career in education follows over two decades of work in accounting and finance, where she was employed by small businesses, major manufacturers and not-for-profit organizations.

A New Jersey native, Ms. Towns moved to North Carolina where she earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Management, Minor in Mathematics/Computer Applications from Meredith College. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of Phoenix and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Business Management.

Ms. Towns loves teaching and especially appreciates the opportunity to share her knowledge of mathematics and demonstrate her subject matter translates into real world experiences. She comments, “I try my level best, with the resources at my exposure, to include all possible practical examples in my teachings. I believe all encompassing success can be best achieved by inculcating right values in our children, so when they start their own business or enter college, the work force, the military, or trade/technology school they are equipped with pearls of wisdom that will guide them at every cross road.”

When she isn’t engaged in teaching, Ms. Towns has numerous interests. She loves to read, travel, and officiate volleyball, basketball, wrestling, softball, and lacrosse in her spare time. Ms. Towns also loves spending time at the beach.
