Edna Perkinson

Our Welcome To Sanford Artist of the Week is popular local painter Edna Perkinson. Edna has had a passion for painting for as long as she can remember … dating back well into her youth.  During the stage of life where her primary focus was on raising a family and working in the pharmacy field, Edna still tried to find as much time as possible to attend watercolor workshops and paint a variety of subjects.

Upon retirement, Edna shifted her focus primarily to oil painting. She also dabbles in acrylics, among other mediums. Edna’s preferred subjects include florals, still life, landscapes and plenty of other scenes of nature, children & animals — often in combination! As is often reflected in her work, frequent trips to the beach provide inspiration and subjects on many occasions.

Edna is an Associate Member of the Women Painters of the Southeast and has been an active member in the Sanford Brush & Palette Club. She’s also earned several awards at the club’s annual art show.  Edna’s work has been shown in the area at destinations such as Added Accents on Steele Street. Presently, her work can be seen in a featured program at Libations 139, along with fellow local artists Alice Heins, Carolyn Chipman, Maria Rowe, Doug Rowe, Sydney Somoza and Yvonne Sovereign. This local art showcase will be featured until the end of September.
