DeShanta Prince — Lee County High School

Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Lee County High School‘s DeShanta Prince. Mrs. Prince teaches English, works with students in and out of the exceptional children’s program and and also participates in the STING advisory group. Mrs. Prince is a proud Yellow Jacket graduate herself, and also has a degree from UNC-Greensboro. She was also recognized as Lee County High School’s 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.

Recognized by her colleagues for her giving spirit, her deep commitment to teaching, and her ability to make learning an enjoyable experience for her kids, Mrs. Prince loves to give back to the community and to introduce wonderful things to today’s Yellow Jackets. She comments, “My goals are to have many teachable moments and make an impact in students lives.”

When Mrs. Prince was honored by the school district in spring 2017, her recognition noted, “Her teaching philosophy is to meet the students where they are and build positive relationships with them. She sees her students as her kids first, needing love, support and attention.”  In her spare time, Mrs. Prince enjoys spending time with her family.
