Circle M City

Today’s Welcome to Sanford Business of the Week is Circle M City, a recreation of a Wild West town complete with bank, saloon, chapel, museum, jail, costume room, kitchen, opera house, and of course lots of horses!

Their space, located on Cowboy Ln. in the southwest corner of Sanford, is used for a variety of events and activities such as weddings, birthday parties, field trips, film making, horseback riding and more.

After retiring from his career as an electrical engineer, “Sheriff” Tim Marsh made his passion for the old west into a reality by creating Circle M City on his farm. He didn’t set out to create a business, but as he hand-built more and more buildings on his property, he realized he had begun to create a space that could be used for birthday parties and more.

Marsh considers himself a fourth-generation cowboy, following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather Julius O Matthews, who sold 16,000 horses per week to the government during World War 1. His father Dwight Marsh trained, bred, boarded and rode horses and passed that knowledge and passion onto Tim at a young age.

Tim’s wife, third-generation cowgirl Michelle Marsh, runs the town alongside him, playing the role of the notorious “Crazy Kate.”

There’s a lot to do when you hold an event at the Circle M City. You can dress up in period attire in their costume room, tour the town, cater a meal in their barn, have a photo shoot or visit the Circle M Museum, which holds a collection of relics from the old west which Tim has collected over the years.

Marsh Stables at Circle M City offers horse boarding facilities as well as horseback riding lessons for people of all ages.

Contact Tim about horseback riding lessons, event and more by calling 919-499-8493 or emailing circlemcity@windstream.net. Make sure to check out their website to learn more, and follow Circle M City on Facebook for regular updates.
