CCH Nurse Kellie Fuquay Earns National Recognition For Superior Care

Central Carolina Hospital Nurse Kellie Fuquay has been recognized by the DAISY Foundation for exceptional patient care. Kellie is an RN in the OB Department at the hospital and was recently nominated by a first-time mother who appreciated the extra effort that Kellie made to help her patient feel comfortable and confident during the birthing process. The nominating patient said she felt an immediate connection with Kellie and appreciated Kellie’s willingness to go above and beyond the norm. At one point when the patient was having difficulty eating, Katie even brought her a pizza!

The DAISY Foundation and DAISY Award are associated with over 1,000 hospitals nationwide and honor the outstanding work that nurses do. Honorees are nominated by patients or their families, in recognition of their remarkable care, clinical skills and compassion. The foundation was created in 2000 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died of a rare immune system disease at the age of 33.

As an added bonus, the nominating patient and her new born child were in attendance to help celebrate Kellie at Central Carolina Hospital’s recognition event on November 5.
