We’re back again to recap the businesses we have featured in the four months since we began this column. This week, we want to take a look at some of the businesses that provided essential services to the citizens and other businesses of Sanford.
Back in December, we featured Heritage Concrete. Heritage Concrete has been a boon to the Sanford community since it was founded in 1986. The founders of Heritage credit their long term success to the fact that they make their decisions based on doing the right thing, even if it means a short term hit to their bottom line. The company is also dedicated to helping the community by supporting local community organizations and non-profits such as the Boys & Girls Club of Lee County. In January we featured Theraplay, a pediatric practice that provides occupational, developmental, speech, and language therapy to children across Lee County. Theraplay is active in the community, offering workshops for schools, churches, social groups, and service organizations in Sanford. They also volunteer and participate in activities involving the youth in Lee county. Because of their service and community involvement, they were honored as the Sanford Area Growth Alliance Small Business Owner of the Year for 2016.
Finally, in the beginning of this month we featured J. A. Hart Construction & Remodeling. Jon Hart returned to his home town of Sanford in 2009 to start his own business. In the years since, he has grown his business into a large, thriving company which constructs, remodels, renovates, and restores homes and businesses across Lee County. J. A. Hart Construction & Remodeling supports the community in a number of ways. For example, in 2019 they provided materials and labor to construct a breezeway at Lee Early College.
