Business Of The Week – Pentair

Our Welcome To Sanford Business of the Week column is very pleased to recognize the many contributions of Pentair to our community.  This engaged, innovative corporation is a global leader in the creation and distribution of a comprehensive range of smart, sustainable water solutions to homes, business and industry, around the world.

With over 300 U.S. Patents, Pentair focuses its energies on creating products that enable people, business, and industry to access clean, safe water, reduce water consumption, and recover and reuse it. Pentair employs over 10,000 people in approximately 30 countries and 110 locations world-wide. Please click on this image to learn more about Pentair.

Equally important to residents of Sanford and Lee County is the specific work that Pentair undertakes right here in our back yard.  Pentair arrived in Lee County nearly 50 years and rapidly outgrew its initial location. Concurrent with settling into its present location on Hawkins Avenue, Pentair donated its initial property to the non-profit now known as Lee County Industries, which provides rehab and educational training for disabled and disadvantaged individuals.

Pentair employs over 525 people at its Sanford location. In addition to being significant contributors to corporate accomplishments, including the creation of several of the aforementioned patents, Sanford’s Pentair organization has a long history of active community involvement. Employees are eager to participate in numerous programs in an effort to make our community even greater, and Pentair participates with a corporate matching program.  The Helping Hands Clinic, the Boys and Girls Club of Central North Carolina, Relay for Life, CUOC Backpack Pals program, The Stevens Center and the Hispanic Task Force are just a small, notable sampling of the many organizations in Sanford and Lee County that have benefited by the active participation of Pentair and its team members.

Pentair was recently recognized for its financial accomplishments and civic engagement as recipient of the 2019 Large Industry Award at the Sanford Area Growth Alliance’s Annual Meeting. SAGA Economic Development Executive Director Bob Joyce observed, “Although many people drive by their facility every single day, you may not even know it’s there…but, you see their employees everywhere…volunteering, serving and being involved. Pentair is the consummate corporate citizen.  Frank Swindell and Jennifer Byerly accepted the honor on behalf of their local colleagues and the organization.
