This Monday, as part of the Business of the Week column, we’re taking a look at the Boys & Girl’s Clubs of of Central Carolina, HAVEN, LCI Inc. and The Bread Basket of Sanford. These three organizations are all featured charities which will receive the proceeds from the Sanford Goes to the Movies, Adcock’s Outdoor Movie Series.
Last December we featured the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina as our Business of the Week. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina is dedicated to serving youth from the ages of 6-18. From homework assistance to games, athletics, workshops for young men and women, to drug prevention programs, the Club offers young people a range of fun, productive, and learning activities. Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Carolina will be holding their annual “TRUNK OR TREAT” event at Robin Paige Boys & Girls Club in Lillington on October 29th, and they need candy donations, trunks and volunteers, check out their Facebook page for more information.
HAVEN (Helping Abuse & Violence End Now) is a nonprofit organization which provides safety to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. They provide this safety through a number of services. The HAVEN Shelter is a safe and free shelter for people leaving violent homes. HAVEN also offers support groups, court advocacy, and 24-hour crisis intervention. They also train volunteers through 40-hour classes for those looking to help HAVEN with administrative duties and more. LCI Inc. (formerly Lee County Industries Inc.) is a nonprofit organization has provided educational training and rehabilitation services to youth and adults with barriers to employment since 1967. This includes people with disabilities, people from low-income families and more.
Their programs include Community Alternative Program (CAP) services such as day supports, personal care and supported employment. Since LCI formed in 1967 under the name “Lee County Sheltered Workshop,” they have helped countless North Carolinians in Lee County and beyond reach their full potential and live happier lives. Bread Basket of Sanford is a soup kitchen dedicated to providing a hot meal to those who cannot afford one and would otherwise go hungry. The Bread Basket is located at 140 E Chisholm St and serves those across the Sanford community. They are always looking for donations and volunteers, you can provide your support at their website, breakbasketofsanford.org.
