Artist of the Week – Alice Heins

Our latest Welcome To Sanford Artist of the Week is Alice Heins. A long-standing member of the Sanford Brush & Palette Club, Alice started with a focus on water colors, but now works primarily in oil painting. She describes art as life-long interest and passion.

Alice’s works are often landscapes, seascapes, figurative paintings or still life. Asked to describe her approach to painting, Alice notes, “I only paint what I see and know, so most of my works will be southern in location. I particularly like painting seascapes and landscapes both from photos that I take or in plein air. I also enjoy painting animals and likenesses of my precious grandchildren.”

A Sanford resident, Alice also enjoys spending time at beaches along the Carolinas and these natural settings and landmarks frequently surface in her paintings. In her time as an active artist, Alice has received recognition at several art shows, including the Sanford Brush & Palette Club’s annual art shows.  Her painting called Cousins, pictured here, was juried at the Wilmington Azalea Festival Art Show in 2015. Alice has participated in workshops and her works of art have been featured at local venues including Cafe 121 and Libations. Our next 2 images reveal the front and back entrances to Libations.
