Amanda Zeh – Greenwood Elementary

Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Amanda Zeh, an acclaimed physical education teacher at Greenwood Elementary School. Mrs. Zeh is in the midst of her 10th year as a phys ed instructor and is in her 4th year at the school, where she was honored as Greenwood Teacher of the Year for the 2016-17 school year.

Mrs. Zeh has also been selected for the NC Governor’s Teacher Network where she wrote curriculum for the state of North Carolina. She’s been recognized as an NC Department of Public Instruction/Subway School Health Champion Award winner, has served as co-leader of a PE Professional Learning Community, a Healthful Living Assessment Writer, and is currently the Chairperson of the School Improvement Team at Greenwood.

Mrs. Zeh holds a BS in Physical Education from Lenoir-Rhyne College, where she has also achieved a teaching licensure and earned certifications in health and reading. An enthusiastic member of the Hornet family, Mrs. Zeh estimates that she has taught over 2,000 students thus far in her teaching career. She’s had a hand in securing numerous grants for new physical education equipment and innovative teaching methods.

With a last name that rhymes with “play,” it’s an appropriate description of the enthusiasm Mrs. Zeh brings to her classes and the school as a whole. Her peers admire Ms. Zeh’s focus on student excellence and her creative ability to incorporate subjects like reading, writing, math and science into her phys ed classes.
