Sanford’s long-standing holiday tradition, the Sanford Christmas Parade, takes place Monday evening December 4, starting at 7pm. Organized and operated for over 60 years, originally by the Sanford Jaycees, then by the Sanford Chamber of Commerce and now by the Central Carolina Jaycees, the Christmas parade in downtown Sanford is one of our community’s signature holiday events.
The parade kicks off at the corner of Carthage and Wicker Streets, moves east on Wicker, heads north onto Steele Street, then west on Carthage, before concluding back at Wicker Street. The self-contained 11-block route gives parade goers plenty of great viewing spots from the throughout the heart of downtown.
Every year’s parade is filled with floats and participants, from local businesses, schools, non-profits and youth groups. newhope church was the winning bidder this year and will serve as the main parade sponsor. Other major and established sponsors of the parade include Central Carolina Hospital, Elite Storage and the Sanford Lions Club.
