It’s the third weekend of 2020 and despite the cold weather, things are really starting to heat up in Sanford! We’ve got a lot of unique events happening this weekend, let’s take a look!
Tonight, January 17th at 8:30 pm The B-Sides will be playing at the Smoke and Barrel. The B-Sides are an “Ameripolitan” band from Central NC who play a mix of Honky Tonk/Classic Country music inspired by the music of Waylon, Willie and Merle. Come down to the Smoke and Barrel on Steele St. to grab some dinner and enjoy a night of lively music!
Saturday, January 18th is packed, starting with the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast at Saint Luke UMC, hosted by the Lee County NAACP. The community is invited to come out at 9:00 am to a celebration of the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. All are welcome at this event free of charge.
Another event happening Saturday morning is the 2nd Annual “Freeze Your Tail Feathers” Fly In hosted by the Sanford Model Airplane Club. Come down to the field at 4500 Jefferson Davis Highway rain or shine at 9:00 am to fly your plane or just to watch and experience this unique hobbyist community. There is a $5 fee to participate and lunch will be available.
Finally, Hugger Mugger will be celebrating its 2 year anniversary all day Saturday. At noon they will be releasing an all-new beer brewed with over 300 pounds of fruit.
