Our Welcome To Sanford Business of the Week is Theraplay, a pediatric practice located in downtown Sanford that provides speech & language, occupational, developmental and feeding therapy for children throughout Lee County and surrounding communities. Founded in 2009 under the direction of Owner/Speech Language Pathologist Jeanine Morton, Theraplay has earned a reputation in Central North Carolina for its dedication and devotion to the children and families it serves. Theraplay is a bilingual service provider, working with patients in both English and Spanish.
While offering a full range of pediatric therapies, the Theraplay organization often speaks most about it’s family-orientation and servant mindset. According Ms. Morton, “In our experience, when an individual or organization places service first, everything else falls into place as it should. This priority is especially true for pediatric therapy practices like Theraplay that serve the needs of special children. We know that being ‘all in’ for our children and their families is a must.”
From it’s convenient location on Chatham Street, just across the road from Depot Park, Theraplay has also been an active participant in the business community, hosting developmental screenings, family workshops and sponsoring and supporting sensory-friendly events in the area. Ms. Morton has been a board member with the Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce, an active member of the Sanford Kiwanis and was honored as the Sanford Area Growth Alliance Small Business Owner of the Year for 2016. Theraplay is also a frequent volunteer and participant in youth-oriented activities taking place in Lee County.
Theraplay therapists are also available to provide workshops, seminars and presentations for schools, parent groups, churches, service organizations, government agencies, practitioners and social groups in Sanford and Lee County. They enjoy sharing their expertise in caring for special children and pediatric therapy, whenever the opportunity presents itself.
