The City of Sanford has announced that the much-anticipated Kiwanis Family Park Splashpad is finally officially open for business. After a recent soft launch, and last-minute technical issues were resolved in the past week, the official opening is set for Saturday, September 7. Splash pad hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekends and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on week days. The pad will be open from May through October. In-season hours (Memorial Day through Labor Day) will be 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every day.
As the artist rendering below suggests, the Kiwanis Family Park Splashpad is a fun, interactive experience that allows its participants to get wet in all sorts of ways. With 19 different components and a capacity of 177 people, the latest attraction at Kiwanis Park is sure to enjoy lots of attention, especially on warm weather days. A collaboration between the City of Sanford and Lee County government, the Splash Pad is part of upgrades and renovations at the park that also include new shelters, bathrooms, an enhanced walking trail and a new playground designed for children of all ages and abilities.
