Pamela Tysor Ard -Ingram Elementary

Our Welcome To Sanford Teacher of the Week is Pamela Tysor Ard of J.R. Ingram, Jr. Elementary School. Mrs. Ard is a K-2 Literacy Intervention Specialist and has been a part of the Ingram family for 11 of her 12-year teaching career. She holds an Associate of Arts Degree from Central Carolina Community College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Andrews Presbyterian College. And when she’s not teaching, she is busy as a member of the school’s Student Leadership Committee and oversees the K-5 students in their school wide leadership roles. Mrs. Ard also enjoys greeting students and parents as they arrive to school in the car rider line each morning.

Building relationships with students is a key factor in Mrs. Ard’s teaching philosophy. “I believe as an effective teache,r you need to get to know your students, really listen to them and make a genuine connection. All children are teachable and capable of learning, so set your expectations high and the children will soar.”

Mrs. Ard’s proudest teaching accomplishment is seeing the growth in her students throughout the school year. “I’m proudest of witnessing the confidence in my students grow as they become more successful. They develop a love of reading across all genres and often finish the school year above grade level.” When asked how her colleagues would describe Mrs. Ard, she said she hopes they would say she’s approachable and down to earth, dependable, fair and most importantly, that she love her students and treats them like her own.

In her free time, Mrs. Ard enjoys attending student sporting events and other activities outside of the school setting. She also enjoys long walks with her husband Andrew, who is the Physical Education teacher at Ingram, and spending time with their family.

Mrs. Ard also wants to give a shout out to Ms. Marsha Bednarcyk and Mrs. Cindi Fulk who selflessly volunteer in her classroom three days a week. “They have been with me for five years and contribute a wealth of knowledge and experience to our classroom family. We highly value the support of our parents and community at J.R. Ingram, Jr. Elementary School!”
