Family Medicine Physician Uma (Shah) Darji, M.D. has joined the staff at Central Carolina Hospital and will be providing Primary Care services to patients from the Central Carolina Community Family Care facility located at 855 East Street in Pittsboro. Dr. Darji specializes in preventive health, patient education, comprehensive care, chronic disease management, medical education, practice management, holistic medicine, global health, urgent care and aesthetic medicine.
A native of Dallas, Dr. Darji has undergraduate degrees from Austin College, in History, Religious Studies and Political Science. She earned her medical degree at American University of the Caribbean, Cupecoy, St. Maarten. Her residency was completed at East Carolina University and its affiliated Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
In her junior year at college, Dr. Darji spent time abroad in Italy where she had the opportunity to provide access to health care in mobile clinics to the disenfranchissed. This experience solidified her decision to become a family doctor.

In Dr. Darji’s spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family. She is conversant in English, Gujarati, Hindi, and Italian.
