Central Carolina Hospital‘s recent growth trend is continuing at the start of the new year, with the addition of urologist Dr. Antonios Karamelegos to the CCH medical staff, effective January 2, 2018. Dr. Karamelegos will provide urology services to hospital patients and other residents of Sanford and surrounding communities. His appointment to the CCH staff follows the addition of 14 new medical providers throughout the 2017 calendar year.
Central Carolina Hospital Interim CEO Spencer Thomas is enthusiastic about Dr. Karamelegos’ addition to the CCH staff, noting, “Dr. Karamalegos has over 35 years’ experience in Urologic medicine, and his specialties include adult and pediatric urology. He is an excellent addition to our medical staff. Dr. Karamalegos joining our team, with his expertise and experience, is important as Central Carolina Hospital strives to meet our region’s evolving healthcare needs and make our community healthier.”
Dr. Karamelegos has provided urological care for patients in North Carolina since the 1980s, and joins CCH from Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, where he served since 1989. Dr. Karamalegos is a graduate of Michigan State University. His practice’s areas of emphasis include adult and pediatric urology, endourology, ESWL, medical and surgical treatment for impotence, prosthesis, sling procedures, urodynamics, oncology, infertility, prostate ultrasonagraphy, BPH microwave therapy and prostate cancer cryotherapy.
