One of the many activities that makes Sanford and Lee County special is here again … it’s the 80th edition of the annual Sanford Lions Club Lee Regional Fair. Festivities take place at the county fairgrounds from Tuesday September 12 through Sunday September 17 and each day is packed with popular activities and new attractions.
Big Rock Amusements will manage the rides and amusements this year, with roughly 2 dozen rides of all types for all ages, as well as games of challenge and delicious fair food. Amusement Tickets remain priced at $20 for unlimited rides. Entertainment highlights include Sanford’s Got Talent and the first annual Sanford’s Kids Got Talent – 2 nights full of local singers, dancers, musicians, comedians, magicians and so much more – competing for prizes and the endorsement of the audience.
Agriculture exhibits, shows and competition will take place at the Agricultural Exhibit Hall throughout the fair, with judging for categories such as field crops, horticulture, baked goods, handicrafts, sewing, artwork, photography, beer, cider and wine. Plus cook-offs for cakes, chili, sweet potato pie and cookies.
And of course, there are the pageants for talented young ladies, with 6 classes of competition for girls from ages 4-to-18. Petite, Tiny, Little and Young pagents take place on Tuesday September 12. Junior Miss and Miss Lee winners will be crowned on Wednesday September 13. Miss North Carolina 2017 Victoria Huggins will also be on hand at the fair, September 15-17.
